NFD BOX LOCATIONS - 1955

Over time, the Newark fire box locations and their running assignments as
they were in 1955, will be listed, starting with Box 1121. In addition, firehouse
locations will be illustrated, showing the location of the company during that
period of time.

Not all fire alarm box locations shown were actual alarm boxes. Some were
what were known as, "phantoms." These were numbers designated to loca-
tions so exact alarm responses could be calculated, but there were no actu-
al alarm boxes located there. These boxes will be shown in blue on the map
and running charts, along with being highlighted.

Since the private boxes followed no special pattern as the street boxes did,
it would be impossible to be able to show their locations on a small area of
map suitable for posting here. Therefore, there will be no maps showing the
locations of private boxes, only street boxes.
