SEPTEMBER 11
The story about Captain Henry "Harry" G. Singer, Jr., which appeared in the "The Good, The Bad, The Ugly" feature, has been given a permanent  page in the "Personnel" section of NFH. The story will be updated soon with further information. If anyone has anything further about Harry, e.g. memories, photos, etc., please send them to me and I'll add them to the story.

The "Dems Da Rules!" and "The Good, The Bad, The Ugly" features have been updated. I tried something new using thumbnail photos in the Good, Bad, Ugly, feature. Please let me know if you encounter any difficulty in viewing them.

SEPTEMBER 9

SEPTEMBER 8
Whew! What a job! Something got corrupted somewhere along the line and it has taken me the last two days to get it straightened out. I'm hoping to get to do some updates on the site over the next coupla days. I have placed two new DOC files entitled, "The Calm Before The Storm" and "The Parade" in the "General" section. I'm planning on placing a couple more as soon as I can fix them for use on NFH. I hope you all enjoy reading the new stories, which tells a coupla tales of the "War Years."

AUGUST 20
A copyright notice now appears at the bottom of the NFH home page. It covers all material on the site since its inception in 2008.

I have discovered that it's possible to add Word documents to the website for visitors to view. Since 99% of all my NFD historical research is in this format, it may be possible to place some of my reports here for your viewing pleasure. In order to view the reports, a visitor must have at least Word 2003, or install the Word viewer application, which can be found online for free.

This is the main reason for the copyright notice. I don't mind sharing my research with people who have an interest in the history of the NFD. After all, I try to live by the words, "Knowledge is of no value until shared with others." However, we all know there are a few unscrupulous bastards out there who see nothing wrong with stealing the hard work of others and claiming it as their own, especially if they can make a shoddy buck or two off it. In my thinking, that's exactly the same as breaking into my home and stealing my shit!! Woe be to the lowlife scumbag who I find stealing my shit, because I WILL come down on them like the hammers of Hell!

On an experimental basis, I have placed a Word file in the "Apparatus" section here to see how it works out. Any and all input regarding this new feature would be greatly appreciated. I hope you all enjoy the report.

The "The Newark Shops," "We Got A Job!," "Above & Beyond," and "The Filing Cabinet" features have been updated. This brings all the features to a recently updated status. From hereon, they will be updated in the order shown on the "NFH Features" page.

I am also happy to report that during this past week, visitors to NFH reached the 50,000 mark, since going in service on October 31, 2008. Thank you all.

JULY 26
The "The Good, The Bad, The Ugly," and "Dems Da Rules!" features have been updated. By the end of this coming weekend, I plan to update the "The Newark Shops," "We Got A Job!," "Above & Beyond," and "The Filing Cabinet" features as well. The features will thereafter be updated in the order they are shown on the "NFH Features" page.

I'd like to thank all who replied to my poll of what features you find to be your least favorite here on NFH. The actual number of responses was disappointingly low, which has prompted me to decide to not conduct any further polls in the future. Out of 50 to 70 visitors per day, I got replies from ten people. The lack of response saddened and angered me. From now on, I'll decide what content goes on the site. If anyone is unhappy with my decisions, then go build your own website. Anyway...

As I suspected, the replies were a mixed bag of least favorites, with only one feature being mentioned mostly by all -- "Met By Accident!" While I was hoping people would contribute photos for this feature, it never happened... so, it's been disbanded. A couple of guys also thought that "Chariots Of Fire" was a duplication of "The Newark Shops." Initially, this feature was added to showcase some non-Newark apparatus. However, in an effort to keep the site Newark-only, I changed it to showcase Newark rigs. This feature has also been disbanded. The remaining features will stay in service at their present locations. Whether any new ones will be placed in service remains to be seen.

NFH will now be strictly limited to Newark, with the only exception being other towns where the NFD may have operated.

I'm taking a poll regarding the features on the NFH website. Which feature(s) is/are your LEAST favorite? I'm not concerned with your favorites or suggestions right now. What I'm trying to determine is what feature(s) is/are not really being looked at so I might do away with those and devote more time to the others.

The "Met By Accident," "The Good, The Bad, The Ugly," and "Dems The Rules!" features have been updated.

In addition, a new feature has been started entitled "The Filing Cabinet," which will display official NFD records and documents, such as reports, memos, department notices, etc, As with all the NFH feature pages, I hope you all enjoy the new one.

The "We Got A Job!" and "NFD Box Locations - 1955" features have been updated, as well as the home page marquee.

A new feature has been started entitled "Above & Beyond." An official commendation notice, detailing actions taken by Newark's Bravest above and beyond the normal call of duty, will be taken from NFD files and shown here. I hope you all enjoy the new feature.

JULY 11
I repaired the photos in the "Firemen Are Racists???" feature, in the "Personnel" section. It seems that when I moved them to another folder they were not displaying because the root location couldn't be found. I have also updated the "The Newark Shops" feature.

JULY 6
Two entries have been made for July 5 in the "NFD News" section, and the "NFDHA Upcoming Events" page has been updated.

I have built pages for the "NFD News - April - May - June" and "NFD News - July - August - September" features. My intent is to make regular entries starting with July, and will try to make some postings for April, May and June. Right now, however, the latter pages will remain blank. An entry has been made for July 2 in the "NFD News" section.

Updates have also been made to the "Met By Accident," "The Good, The Bad, The Ugly," and "Dems The Rules!" features. As of this posting, two pages from the rulebook will be displayed in the "Dems The Rules!" feature, instead of one.

JULY 1
Well, it's the start of a brand new month, so I figured maybe it's time to try and do some work here on the site. I'll be updating the regular features, and the latest updates will be posted here, as well as to the Facebook group, as always. While I'm still not feeling 100%, the lack of new content here is bothering me. I have heard from several people expressing concern about the future of the site. I appreciate everyone's concern, and I thank all of you who have expressed your support and prayers for me during these last couple of months. I just want to let you all know that the site is alive and kickin', and will continue to be the best and largest website about Newark's Bravest. Thanks for your patience and understanding. Enjoy!
